School (Copenhagen) he was admitted to The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1913 (studying under the famous Julius Paulsen) and graduated from there in 1920. He made several study tours to France. In recognition of his talent and work, he won the Ronge Prize in 1920 and the Serdin-Hansen Prize in 1931.
